Sebastian and Daniella's Wedding at The Misq, Parramatta
A modern romantic celebration with a custom perfume bar
Some weddings feel warm the moment you walk in. Sebastian and Daniella's celebration at The Misq in Parramatta was one of those nights, the kind where strangers become friends over champagne and the dance floor never really empties. The venue's modern architecture, soft lighting, and open layout created an atmosphere that felt both luxurious and intimate, perfectly reflecting the couple's effortless style.
We were invited to bring our signature custom perfume bar to the reception, offering guests an experience that blended elegance with creativity. What we didn't anticipate was just how much it would become the heart of the evening.
Throughout the night, our bar transformed into a gathering point where connections unfolded naturally. We watched the bride's grandmother spend twenty minutes carefully selecting her oils, eventually settling on a rose and sandalwood blend that reminded her of her own wedding day decades ago. She dabbed a little on her wrist and smiled. "This one," she said quietly, "this is the one."
Each guest selected up to three French-made perfume oils, explored different scent families, and finished their bottle with a bespoke label featuring the couple's names and wedding date. The process became surprisingly personal, what began as a quick activity often turned into a moment of reflection.
One of the groomsmen, initially sceptical ("I just wear whatever's on sale at Chemist Warehouse, to be honest"), ended up creating a woody amber blend he declared was "actually really good" and immediately started planning to give one to his partner. His mates didn't let him live down his newfound enthusiasm for the rest of the night.
The room came alive with stories as guests compared their creations and debated their choices. Two cousins turned it into a friendly competition, blind-testing each other's blends and voting on favourites. A group of university friends recreated a scent that reminded them of their first share house "slightly questionable, but nostalgic," one of them laughed. Meanwhile, the groom's mother chose soft jasmine and vanilla, telling us it was the closest she could get to the perfume her own mother used to wear.
Some guests crafted delicate floral arrangements to match the romantic theme of the evening, while others gravitated toward deeper, richer notes, oud, leather, musk that carried stories of their own. A few couples created matching his-and-hers bottles, while one guest made a fragrance specifically designed to annoy her sister ("she hates patchouli, so obviously I had to").
Sebastian and Daniella wanted something unique, interactive, and genuinely memorable for their guests not just another favour that ends up forgotten in a drawer. Watching their loved ones laugh, reminisce, and leave clutching their personalised bottles, it was clear the perfume bar delivered exactly that. Every bottle became a keepsake that captured the feeling of the night.
It was a privilege to be part of their celebration at The Misq. If you're planning your wedding and want an experience your guests will still be talking about long after the last song plays, our custom perfume bar is the perfect way to elevate your event.
