Creating Signature Salon Scents for NAK Hair at Sofitel Brisbane

How do you create a corporate event experience that feels personal to 168 guests, operates within a tight conference schedule and leaves every attendee with something meaningful?

For the NAK Hair Collective Business Forum at Sofitel Brisbane on 18 May 2026, Unique Parfum answered that question with an interactive custom perfume bar built around collaboration, creativity and salon identity.

A Corporate Fragrance Experience for 180 Guests

The forum brought together 180 attendees representing 80 salon groups from all round Australia.

Instead of asking every guest to create an individual perfume, NAK Hair and Unique Parfum developed a format tailored to the event: each salon group collaborated on one signature salon scent. Once the group selected its blend, the fragrance was reproduced so every member could take home a matching bottle.

This made the perfume bar both personal and practical. Each fragrance represented a shared salon identity, while the group format allowed a large number of guests to enjoy the experience within the available hour time given.

Five Fragrance Families, Countless Possibilities

Guests explored five fragrance directions before developing their group blends:

  • Citrus: mandarin, orange blossom, orange, saffron, jasmine, lily, musk and tonka bean
  • Woody: orange leaf, jasmine, sandalwood, mint, lemon, fig, cedar and tonka bean
  • Floral: pistachio, ylang-ylang, coconut, pear, lotus, peony, tuberose, gardenia and vanilla
  • Sweet: cinnamon, vanilla, praline, cardamom, iris and tonka bean
  • Fruity: blackcurrant, rose, vanilla, mango, grapefruit and tonka bean

This curated selection gave attendees enough freedom to create something distinctive without making the fast-paced process overwhelming.

Designing the Activation for Guest Flow

The perfume bar shared its event zone with two other activations. To preserve an open queue and make the experience easy to navigate, the setup used two adjoining tables positioned along the rear of the allocated space.

NAK Hair also organised the salon groups into a schedule, helping guests move through the experience without disrupting the wider conference program. We adapted our usual process on the day to keep pace with demand and produce the required bottles efficiently.

The response exceeded expectations. The experience was busy enough to require 15 additional bottles, and NAK Hair reported that attendees loved the activation.

An Experience Guests Remembered After the Event

Several weeks after the Collective Business Forum, attendees were still contacting NAK Hair to ask about the notes in their custom “Signature Scents.” NAK Hair described the perfume bar as a wonderful addition that was very well received.

That continued interest reveals why fragrance works so well at corporate events. Guests did not leave with a generic promotional item. They left with a scent they had helped create, connected to their salon colleagues and their experience at the forum.

Because fragrance is closely associated with emotion and memory, each use of the perfume can bring the event back to mind.

Why a Perfume Bar Works for Team Building

A collaborative perfume bar gives teams an easy and enjoyable way to discuss preferences, identity and shared values. It offers:

  • A creative activity accessible to guests with different interests
  • A premium personalised gift for every participant
  • Natural conversation and collaboration within each team
  • Strong photo and video opportunities
  • A lasting sensory connection to the event and host brand

The NAK Hair event also demonstrates that a custom perfume experience can be scaled for a large conference audience without losing its sense of personalisation.
